Biography: James J. Eline, Sr., 80, of Littlestown passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Wellspan Gettysburg Hospital. He was the husband of Kathie M. (Moomaw) Eline for over 57 years. Born March 1, 1944 in Hanover, he was the son of the late John J. and Susan Mae (Keagy) Eline.

Jim was a 1962 graduate of Delone Catholic High School. He served in the  U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1963-1966. Jim was owner/operator of Eline and Son Body Shop in Littlestown. He then worked for Penn Auto Body Shop in Hanover as a body mechanic, retiring after 25 years of service.  Jim has been the Mayor of Littlestown for the last 15 years.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his son, James J. Eline, Jr. and fiance, Tammy Brown, of Littlestown; his daughter, Susann M. Simon, and son- in -law, Robert T. Simon, Jr. of York Springs, his 4 grandchildren, Ashley Simon, Hailey Ditzler, Savannah Eline, Matthew Simon and his sister Janet McMaster of Littlestown. Jim was predeceased by his sister, Leitha Houck, and brothers, William and Wayne Eline.

He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Littlestown. Jim was a life member of Alpha Fire Company, American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles, all of Littlestown. He was past Chief of Kingsdale Fire Company. He was a passionate man who never missed a Sunday race, a collector of records and model cars, a lover of music and Coca Cola. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, taking bus trips and country music. He was a traditionalist, loved holidays and Christmas, being together and he loved his family and his grandchildren very much. A man of not many words but showed his love by sharing his favorite new record and things he was passionate about.

Mass of Christian Burial is Thursday, June 27, at 10 A.M. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church with the Rev. C. Anthony Miller Celebrant. Viewing is Wednesday, June 26, from 5-8 P.M. at Little's Funeral Home. Interment is in the Parish Cemetery with Military Honors conducted. Memorials in Jim's name may be made to Alpha Fire Co., 40 E. Littlestown not only lost a Mayor, we also lost a native son. Condolences to his family who will miss him along with his many friends. He’s free from pain now and will rest in peace.
