Biography: Joseph H. Beal, 82, of Littlestown, died Monday, Sept 4, 2023 at his home. Joe was born Aug 9, 1941 in Baltimore to Nicholas Orlando Beal & Sarah Phyllis (Heller) Beal. At the age of 17, he entered the U.S. Army on Feb 24, 1959 and was honorably discharged on April 11, 1962. Shortly after, he met the love of his life, Carole Ann Snyder and started a family. In July of 1972, Joe joined the Baltimore City Fire Department where he achieved the rank of Marine Engineer - an achievement of which he was very proud. During his career, Joe inspired and mentored his two sons and many other young men who Joe considered his sons, to start a career in the Baltimore City Fire Department. Joe retired August 28, 2001 and fully enjoyed 22 years with his wife and family.
Surviving in addition to his wife of over 60 years, are his sons, Timothy D. Beal & Lisa Roberts of Littlestown and Charles T. Beal & Delores of Littlestown; his grandchildren: Joshua Beal & Melissa Starr, Jessica Beal, Jacob & Alli Beal and Lucas Beal; his great grandchildren, Bennett & Bowen Beal; his sister, Mary C. Wolfson & Carl of Baltimore County and his sister-in-law, Jean Beal of Baltimore, his former daughter-in-law, Bonnie Bishop of Littlestown and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his brothers, Robert L. & Nicholas O. Beal. He was a member of Littlestown FOE and American Legion and Retired Baltimore City Firefighters. Joe was a proud son, brother, husband,father and grandfather. He was a great story teller and was known for his loving character and great sense of humor. He was an amazing cook and enjoyed having a house full of people. The hole he has left will never be filled.
Funeral Service is Thursday, Sept 14, at 1 P.M. at Little's Funeral Home, Littlestown, with Pastor Dan Summers officiating. Visitation is 12 - 1 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnels to Towers/ T2T.org. Online condolences may be shared on www.littlesfh.com.
