Biography: Michael E. Clarke, 92, of Richmond, Virginia died Friday, March 17, 2023 at Canterbury Rehabilitation Center in Richmond. He was the husband of Shirley A. Clarke who died November 23, 2018. Born February 2, 1931 in Thurmont MD, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Ambrosia E. Dewart Clarke.

He was a graduate of Thurmont High School. Mike helped manage Mtn. Jerry's Restaurant/Tavern with his grandfather and retired from construction.

He is survived by his sons, Bill Clarke (Deb) of Littlestown, Ken Clarke (Daniella) of Morovia, MD, Fred Clarke (Vickie) of Hagerstown, and Chuck Clarke (Tammy) of Fairfield, PA. His daughters, Tina Brooks of Littlestown, Rose Beasley (Sam) of Richmond Virginia, Angie Baust (Mike) of Fairfield, Amy Brockwell of Bonneauville, PA and daughter in-law Reeba Clarke of Havana, FL. Multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. His brother, Paul Clarke, of Frederick and sister, Rose Goff, of FL and sister-in-law, Ruth Clarke, of Mecanicsburg, PA. Michael was predeceased by his sons, Michael Clarke Jr. and David Clarke.

He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church of Littlestown. He umpired for  the Thurmont Little League, loved growing tomatoes, cooking, playing poker, going to horse races, competing in the Thurmont  Community show and was known as Mtn. Mike's Yard Sales.

Funeral Mass is Thursday, March 23, at 11 A.M. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Thurmont, MD with Father Alberto Barattero Celebrant. There will be a viewing 1 hour before the service at the Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
