Born Sept 6, 1931 in Mt Joy Twp, he was the son of the late Lake, Sr. & Mary (Hawk) Ridinger. Reds was a 1949 Gettysburg High School graduate and a longtime farmer. He also worked on the Eisenhower Farms. He was retired from Shindler Elevator in 1997 after 18 yrs. He continued working part time as courier for Wintrode Chevy Buick, Renn Kirby and Bar Ray.
