Biography: Merle C. Collins, 89, of Hanover, died Tuesday, Aug 17, 2021 at his home.  He was the husband of the late Virginia Rosemary (Higgs) Collins who died Aug 17, 2011.  Born March 4, 1932 in Jonesville, VA,  Merle was the son of the late Shirley Collins and Pearl Crockett.  He was retired form BG & E in Cockeysville since 1993.

Surviving are his daughter, Shari Kruger of Hanover; his three sons:  Greg Covington of Sykesville, Tim Collins and Rusty Collins, both of Hanover; his nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by many brothers and sisters. Merle was a member of Littlestown FOE.  He loved working outside around his home and spending time with his family.

Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. Contributions in Merle's name may be made to the charity of one's choice.  Online condolences may be shared on

Dear Family of Merle,
I am sorry that Merle has passed away. Whenever, I would see Merle at BGE he would always have a smile and we would talk about many things. I hope that Merle enjoyed his retirement years.
