Biography: Jay A. Beamer, 69, formerly of Littlestown, died Saturday, Aug 8, at his home in Abbottstown.  Born Aug 27, 1951  in Gettysburg, Jay was the son of the late Clair & Mary (Gordon) Beamer.  He was a 1969 Littlestown High School graduate and also a DeVry University grad of Arizona.  Jay served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War where he was a Radio Communications Analysis Specialist.  After his discharge from the service, he started his own business, Tees and Things, in Hanover and Westminster, Then he was employed with Hughes Communications of California. Later Jay was self employed in retail sales in the local area which he enjoyed very much.

Surviving are his daughters, Betsy Ann Beamer Koser & Loren of Palmyra; Teri Beamer of Hanover; his three grandchildren, Katelyn, Ashley & Cassandra Koser and his sister JoAnn Ricciuto & Mike of New Oxford.  Jay was a passionate drummer in many bands beginning in 1966 with The Brutes, Saje and the Al Parsons Band. He loved to perform and be on stage.  Jay was also very involved in HAM radios.

Memorial Service is Monday, Aug 23, at 7 P.M. at Little's Funeral Home, Littlestown with The Rev. Chris Thomas officiating.  The family will receive friends Monday 6 - 7 P.M. at the funeral home.  Inurnment is private.  Memorials in Jay's name may be sent to Littlestown High School, C/O Littlestown Band Boosters, 162 Newark St., Littlestown, PA  17340.  Online condolences may be shared on www.littlesfh.com.

I was sad to hear you have left this world. I remember you all through school, with your quirky personality, that look of innocence, always sneaking up on someone to surprise them! We had some long talks over the "pursuit of happiness" in life while eating Famous Hot Weiner dogs & burgers, loaded with onions. I will always remember you singing, "Gloria" while drumming--you did that song so well--at TAC, when you were in the Brutes and many years later with the Al Parsons band crew. Rock on, Beamer, singing Gloria on high . . . You won't be forgotten

Jay was a creative and talented guy. He pleased many customers with his made to order graphics and engravings. I was fortunate to be a band mate with him in the past and in recent times. He had the right touch on the drums, with great timing and finess.The crowds always appreciated his playing. I enjoyed the colorful conversations we had on any number of topics. Rock on Jay! He will be missed for sure. My condolences to family and friends.

In my memories of childhood, Jay plays a giant role. Along with my late sister and another neighbor, we were the four "Prince Street Terrors"--the youngest gang in Littlestown--from 57, 67, and 87 Prince Street, specialists in innocent mischief. Jay was the first (and only) to zip around on a "sting ray" bike with a banana seat, making the rest of us look dull on wheels. It was a wonderful time and place to grow up. And I had wonderful companions. Wherever you are, Jay, make music and mischief and fun.

So sorry to hear this about Jay. He was a very good person and very friendly. My sincere sympathy goes out to his entire family. Jay was in my class of 1969 and a member of the high school band. Whenever I heard him playing the drums I requested "While Out" loved to hear him play. Fly high my friend and rest in peace.

I am very sad to hear about Jay. I have had the pleasure of working with him and hanging out on occasion, and was a fan of him as a musician. He was a gentle soul. I loved talking with him about any number of subjects. He will be sorely missed by me and many.

Very saddened by the loss of this life long friend and band mate. Jay is a drummer and vocalist extraordinaire. I will never do a gig where Jay is not on my mind. His presence will always be felt up there wigth the band. My condolences to his family and friends at this sad time. Jay will be deeply missed.
