Biography:

Catherine Marie Mort went home to be with Jesus in the early morning of Monday, December 14.  She was ushered into Heaven with her greatest earthly treasure by her side, her family.  Catherine, known to her friends as Cass and to her family as Nan, was born May 6, 1923 in Silver Run, MD to the late Upton & Uima Lemmon.  On December 6, 1945 she married her best friend Harold Mort who passed in 2007.  Also passing before Catherine was her sister Pearl Geeting and brother Earl Lemmon.

Catherine was a lady of simple things and great truth.  She did not need much in life because having her family and her faith in Jesus was everything to her.  Early on Catherine worked at the Jack Tar Sewing factory and later at Reaver’s Hardware, but her greatest work was done in the Kitchen.  She loved to cook and bake but she loved even more that it meant having the family together for a special Holiday meal or even just a Friday night dinner.

Remaining to celebrate her life is her son Edward and Barb of Littlestown, PA, grandson Jason & Racheal Mort of York, PA, granddaughter Jodi & Jason Lamer of Uniontown, PA and grandchildren Alexia, Jaron, Jalyn, Jordyn, Landon and Nathan along with a great grandson, Kirby Jr.

A private Celebration service will be held Saturday, December 19 with Rev Jason Lamer officiating.  The family wishes to express deepest appreciation to the staff of Martin’s Care Home for their care and commitment to Catherine.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Martin’s Care Home, 159 Kingsdale Rd. Littlestown PA, in honor of Catherine Mort.  Online condolences may be shared on www.littlesfh.com.

With heavy hearts we extend our sympathy on the passing of Cass. We visited her every week when we visited our Mother at Martin's. She was always eager for a hug and our greetings. She always had a wonderful smile. She watched after our mother also when she got confused. Not visiting since March is sad but, she is in our hearts & memories. May you find peace & comfort in knowing she was so loved by others.

I am so saddened to hear of the loss of Cassie. I loved seeing her. She and Alice were my Moms best friends. She always looked out for Mom, and I appreciated it. I was up to see her and Alice, before the virus started, and I hated when I could no longer visit. I was hoping this would clear up, so I could see Cassie again. She was such a sweetheart, and I will miss her dearly. Martins took such good care of the people they were entrusted with. My sympathy is with you, and your husband. Her hugs meant a lot to me.

My most sincere condolences on the recent loss of your mother/grandmother. Cass was such a special lady. I met her when she and my mother, Doris Staub, were both resident's at Martin's. Mom had dementia and Cass always looked out for her and shared memories with me that Mom may have forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.

Catherine was one of the sweetest and kindest people I’ve ever met. When I was younger, I recall her and Harold having such fun with my grandparents playing cards and going out to eat. We recently had the chance to see her in November and she was still the sweet and kind person I remembered growing up. She spoke very fondly of her family and had a wealth of family history to share with us. I know she will be missed very much and I am very sorry for your loss.
