Biography: Betty Myers Harman, 98, of Silver Run, died Tues, Dec 8, 2020 at Carroll Hospital, Westminster. She was the wife of the late Robert H."Bob" Harman for 63 years who died June 20, 2010. Born May 18, 1922 in Mayberry, Betty was the daughter of the late John H. Myers and Maude (Maus) Myers Zimmerman. She attended a one-room school in Mayberry and was a 1939 Taneytown High School graduate. Betty was a homemaker and worked 10 years for H. Borenstein & Sons of Taneytown. She and her husband owned and operated Harman's Produce Stand in Silver Run for 50 years.
Surviving are her son, Bryan M. Harman & Beth; her daughter, Bobbie L. Erb & Steve Tokarz, all of Westminster; her grandchildren: Megan L. Lance, Brett R. Harman and Cody T. Harman; her great grandchildren, Tassin & Mayssa Lance and her sister, Helen Aileen Long of Westminster. Betty was predeceased by her brothers, Wilson & George H. Myers and her sisters, Kathryn Frock, Marie Hyle and Truth Haines. She was a member of St. Mary's UCC, Silver Run for 55 years where she served as president of the Mother's Class, also for 55 years. Betty was president and vice president for Charles Carroll PTA; President, VP and secretary of Myers Homemakers club for 40 years; Chief Judge & judge at election polls for Myers District for 45 years. Betty loved to bowl and roller skate, loved animals and enjoyed attending sporting events for her children and grandchildren. She was well known for her white peanut butter fudge.
Due to COVID-19, graveside service is for family only on Saturday, Dec 12, at 11:15 A.M. in St. Mary's Cemetery with The Rev. Samuel F. Chamelin officiating. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorials in Betty's name may be sent to St. Mary's UCC - 1441 E. Mayberry Rd., Westminster, MD 21158.
