Biography:

Joseph B. "Joe" McMaster, 73, of Littlestown, died Saturday A.M., July 28, at Genesis HealthCare, Gettysburg Center. He was the husband of Janet (Eline) McMaster for 52 years married on Feb 20, 1960. Born Dec 26, 1938 in McSherrystown, he was the son of the late George L. & Sarah Gertrude (Myers) McMaster. He served two years in the U.S. Army in Korea. Joe was employed with Littlestown Exxon and retired in 2000 from PENNDOT where he was a Motor Carrier Enforcement officer.
 
In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by three sisters: Sister Mary Alice McMaster, SSJ, of Wheeling, WV; Rose Smith of New Oxford; Patricia Weaver of Hanover; a brother, Francis McMaster of Hanover; and 8 special Godchildren: Lori (Houck) Shower of Littlestown; John F. Smith of New Oxford; Jill (Huff) King of Hanover; Deborah (Dillman) Young of Lititz; Geoffrey Altoff of Carlisle; Susann (Eline) Simon of York Springs; Matthew Study of Westminster and Justin Peart of York. Joe was predeceased by three sisters: Ruth Huff, Rita Catherine McMaster and Janet McMaster; a brother, Edward George McMaster and 2 Godchildren: Karen Weaver and Matthew Sheely.
 
Joe was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Littlestown. He was a life member of Alpha Fire Co., Littlestown; McSherrystown Fire Co. (SAVES); Littlestown V.F.W. and F.O.E. and McSherrystown Home Association. He was also a Post member of Catholic War Veterans of Bonneauville and Littlestown Bolt Booster Club. Joe loved his lawn service and the customers he served, working on his church Bingo committee; his dog, "Ernie" and "Mrs. Dash".
 
A Mass of Christian Burial is Wed., Aug 1, at 10 A.M. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Littlestown with The Rev. James M. Sterner, celebrant. Viewing will be Tuesday 6 - 8 P.M. at Little's Funeral Home, Littlestown with the Rosary recited at 8 P.M. Interment will be in Annuciation B.V.M. Cemetery, McSherrytown. Pallbearers will be: John Smith, Larry Altoff, Keith Overcash, Rich Valco, Carl King and Mayor Jim Eline. Honorary Pallbearer is Frank McMaster. Littlestown Allied Veterans Council will conduct military honors at the cemetery. Memorials in Joe's name may be sent to: AseraCare Hospice, 44 Bowman Rd., York, PA 17408 OR Littlestown Bolt Booster Club, C/O Bill Rittase, 140 Newark St., Littlestown, PA 17340.

Aunt Janet,

I am so sorry for the loss of Uncle Joe but know that he is in a happier place and thank you so much for all the care you have given to him. Uncle Joe was always such a good uncle to me and he will be missed especially at our family reunions.
