Biography:
Gary L. Haifley, 68 of Hanover went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, October 8, 2018. He was the husband of Pamela L. (Breighner) Haifley for 47 years. Born in Gettysburg on July 8, 1950, he was the son of John W. Haifley of Littlestown and the late Dorothy M. (Swisher) Haifley.
Gary was a 1968 graduate of Westminster High School and retired from Dresser Industries, Taneytown MD in 2014 after 43 years of service.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Chad E. (Stephanie Yingling) Haifley of Gettysburg, Chet R. (Becci Pohlman) Haifley of New Oxford, and his daughter, Christin L. Haifley of Hanover, and his grandchildren, Cody, Isabelle, Felicia, Harris, Kolton, and Gavin Haifley, his sister, Donna M.(Kirk) Myers of Littlestown, two nephews, two nieces, and four great-nieces. He was predeceased by his brother, Terry J. Haifley of Westminster.
Gary loved spending time with his family and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s school functions and sporting events. He was an avid baseball fan and volunteered his time for many years coaching in the Littlestown Baseball for Youth program. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Littlestown where he participated in the church choir.
There will be no viewing; however the family will receive friends on Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 10 -11 A.M. at his church with a Celebration of Life Service at 11 A.M. with Pastor Gary R. Bowers officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Littlestown. Pall- bearers will be Kirk, Derek, and Brandon Myers, and Cody, Kolton, and Harris Haifley.
