Biography:

Albert J. Bair, 90, formerly of Littlestown, passed away Thursday, Sept 20, at Misericordia Nursing Home of York.  He was born June 10, 1928 in Hanover to the late Arthur and Viola (Rife) Bair.  He was the husband of the late Susan Gwen (Richards) Bair who passed away Oct 24, 2001.  Al is survived by his two daughters, Jenny Foster and husband, Tony, of York and Becky Dunlop and husband, Bruce, of Towson, MD and his three grandchildren:  Harry, Jessica and Gretchen Foster.
 
Graduating from Littlestown High School, Al then attended West Chester State College.  His higher education was interrupted while he served as an Army MP in Germany for two years during the occupation following WWII.  He started a distinguished banking career as a teller at The Littlestown National Bank culminating as President. He then guided the bank by then known as Community National into a merger with and became President of Gettysburg National Bank.  In the latter stages of his career  he was the regional President of Gettysburg National bank under the CCNB and PNC Bank systems.  He was always an active member of the American Institute of Banking.  Al was dedicated to community service.  He served as president of the Hanover Hospital and Littlestown School Boards.  He was a long time member of the Littlestown Chamber of Commerce and Littlestown Rotary. 
 
After Al and Gwen met in Ocean City, MD, they enjoyed decades of beaching, crabbing and fishing while spending their vacations in OCMD, a love they passed onto their daughters and grandchildren.  After retirement they eventually moved to York to be closer to family.  He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Outdoor Country Club of York. 
 
Memorial Service is Saturday, Sept 29, at 11:30 A.M. at Little’s Funeral Home, Littlestown with The Rev. Kyle Gott officiating.  Visitation is 10:30 – 11:30 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.  Inurnment is in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Littlestown.  The family requests memorials in Al’s name may be made to “The Caring Ministry” of the First Presyterian Church, 225 E. Jenny, Becky and family,
We are so saddened to learn of your Father's passing. He was a wonderful companion and friend to our Mother for many years, and was very supportive to her and our family during her health struggles. Our deepest sympathy.
