Nancy S. Dutterer, 77, formerly of Silver Run and currently of Thurmont, died Saturday, Sept 15, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.  Born Jan 23, 1941 in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late John Samuel & Ruth A. (Crouse) Dutterer who died March 19, 1953 and step-daughter of Katharine I. (Krom) Dutterer who died March 7, 1999.  Nancy was a 1959 Westminster High School graduate and was retired from RR Donnelley in 2007 after 47 years of service.  She continued working part time for years.

 

Surviving is her twin brother Larry E. Dutterer & wife, Rebecca, of Silver Run; her brother Donald G. Dutterer & wife, Diane, of Silver Run; her longtime friend, Joann Miller of Thurmont; her nephew Daniel Dutterer and her great nephew Alex Dutterer.  Nancy was a member of St. Mary’s UCC, Silver Run where she served on the consistory and committees. Following in the footsteps of her father, John Samuel, Nancy was known for her selfless approach to life and her love for people and community.  She was also known for her kind and generous spirit, always willing to do more than her part to show others that someone cared.  She was a very active member of the Thurmont Lions Club where she helped lead several large community projects and was instrumental in the club’s fundraising efforts.  Her passion was baking and she enjoyed sharing her famous peanut butter fudge and fruit cobblers.  In addition to St. Mary’s UCC, she volunteered her time at St. John’s Lutheran in Creagerstown, Trinity UCC in Thurmont and Harriet Chapel Episcopal Parish in Catoctin Furnace.  She touched so many lives and will surely be missed by all, and especially by her constant companion and dearest friend Joann Miller. 

 

Funeral Service is Thursday, Sept 20, at 11 A.M. at St. Mary’s UCC with The Rev. Eric Marsteller officiating.  Viewings are Wednesday 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 P.M. at Little’s Funeral Home, Littlestown and one hour prior to service time Thursday at church.  Interment is in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Silver Run. There will also be a celebration of her life with a luncheon in the social hall at Trinity UCC, 101 East Main Street in Thurmont on Sunday, September 30, beginning at 1:30 PM.  Please come and share your stories about Nancy.  Memorials in Nancy’s name may be sent to her church @ 1441 E.
