On December 31, 2017, at the age of 84, our husband, father and grandfather, Charles Albert Connolly, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ.  He was surrounded by his loved ones as he was called home.  He was born July 18, 1933, in Baltimore to the last of Charles A. & Elna (Burke) Connolly.  Chuck was loved by his wife Elthea of 62 years.  He was a fantastic father to his 3 children:  Charlene Koontz & husband, C.W., Eugene Connolly & wife, Karen, and Louise Bankert & husband, Lester. Chuck was very proud of his 8 grandchildren:  Stephanie Arentz, Stacey Miller, Elaine Kirkpatrick, Andrew & Grace Connolly, Shaun Funke, Chantel & Samatha Bankert; his adopted grandson, Scott Hughes and his 9 great grandchildren.  He was also the youngest of 7 siblings that met him at the gates of Heaven:  Howard Burke, Dorothy Wright, Katherine Gostomski, Connie Smith, Mildred Snyder, Gladys Harrison and Velma Ziegler.

Chuck proudly served in the U.S. Army and the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.  He received the Naval Occupation Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.  Dad was very proud to serve his community and his church.  He was a member of Barts Centenary United Methodist Church of Littlestown for over 50 years.  He served as a Lay minister, S.S. teacher, Administration Board, Men’s Group and Trustee.  Chuck was a member of Harney Post VFW where he was past commander and served as trustee.  He was also a member of Marine Corps League of Hanover/ York chapter, Littlestown Eagles, Lions Club, Food Pantry and Historical Society where he was a life member.  Chuck enjoyed bus driving for Littlestown School District for many years as well as LaidLaw.  He worked construction and was a farmer for most of his life.  Dad loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren most of all.  Dad loved woodworking, boating, hunting, fishing, his farm and helping wherever he was needed.

Viewing and Celebration of Dad’s life will be Thursday, January 4, from 4 – 6 P.M. at Little’s Funeral Home, 34 Maple Ave., Littlestown.  Funeral Service is Friday, Jan 5, at 10 A.M. at the funeral home with his pastor, Tammy Blose officiating.  Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover with Military Honors conducted by Littlestown Allied Veterans Council.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in Charles’ name may be sent to his church @ 50 E.
