Biography:

Helen I. Dayhoff, 91, of Gettysburg, died Monday, Dec 18, at Gettysburg Hospital.  She was the widow of Francis S. Dayhoff who died March 17, 2007.  Born March 9, 1926 in Biglerville, Helen was the daughter of the late Jacob H.G. & Sylvia (Weigle) Herman.  She was a 1945 Biglerville High School graduate and in her earlier years was employed in Gettysburg College mailroom.  She was retired from Musselman Nationwide Insurance Agency, Gettysburg.
 
Surviving are her 3 daughters: Connie A. Leatherman of Wellsboro, Karen F. Pyles of Gettysburg and Sharon K. Saulsbury & David of Gettysburg; her 8 grandchildren:  Eric Leatherman, Michelle Bowers, Kari Pyles, Kenneth Pyles, Tami Welsh, Sarah Rothenhoefer, Heather Ng and Nathan Hess; her 8 great grandchildren: Zachary, Brady, Brandon, Melanie, Kaitlyn, Lane, Cheyenne and Colt; and her Brothers-in-law:  Robert and Kenneth Dayhoff. Helen was predeceased by her brothers:  Bill, Maurice and Jacob and her sisters:  Evelyn, Cora, Flossie and Hazel.  Helen was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Littlestown, where she was the secretary and attended the Ladies Aid.  She was the founder and organizer of the Ostomy Association of Gettysburg and Hanover.  She was a volunteer at the Cancer Society and helped with Visiting Nurses home counseling.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, puzzles, feeding and watching the squirrels and spending time with her family.
 
Funeral Service is Friday, Dec 22, at 11 A.M. at her church with Sister Deborah McClellan officiating.  Viewings are Thursday 6 – 8 P.M. at Little’s Funeral Home, Littlestown and one hour prior to service time Friday at church.  Interment is in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg.  Memorials in Helen’s name may go to her church @ 330 White Hall Rd., Littlestown, PA  17340.  Online condolences may be shared on www.littlesfh.com

Heaven truly received a wonderful dear lady. She had touch many lives through the years. I have always enjoyed talking and seeing her. I know her family will miss her love and remember those memories that was shared with her. Prayers for the family through these sad time during a loss of a love one.

Aunt Helen has always been so kind and was a great source of family history. She was a remarkable person and loved her family. We will miss her.

I have known Helen my entire life. She was a kind and giving person. I have many memories of her from my childhood years while attending St. Luke’s Church. We will miss her very much. Heaven has gained a perfect angel.
