Biography:
Alma M. Straley, 90, of Littlestown, died Monday, Oct 23, at her home. She was the widow of William I. Straley who died Nov 30, 1983. Born Aug 14, 1927 in Littlestown, Alma was the daughter of the late Charles & Mary (Collins) Morehead. She was a 1945 Littlestown High School graduate and had been employed with Windsor Shoe, Littlestown for 22 years. Alma then worked with Lincoln Intermediate and after 30 years with The Bon-Ton in Hanover retired in 2010 as a Customer Service Representative.
Surviving are her two daughters: Becky Ripple and husband, Chet, of Littlestown; Amy Smith & husband, Lin, of East Berlin; her grandchildren: Chester “Bubba” Ripple and Skye Ripple; her brother Paul Morehead of Littlestown and her sister Jeanne Hankey of Littlestown. Alma was predeceased by her siblings: Henry Morehead, Mary Phillips and C. Moss, C. Milton & John Morehead. She was a lifelong member of Redeemer’s U.C.C., Littlestown where she was active serving on the Ladies Aid, Finance Committee, Financial Secretary and helped to serve many church dinners. Alma enjoyed taking care of her lawn, bird watching, attending church events and watching her grandchildren play softball and baseball.
Funeral Service is Monday, Oct 30, at 11 A.M. at her church with The Rev.’s Theodore Bowers and Sterling Fritz officiating. Viewings are Monday 10 – 11 A.M. at church and Sunday, Oct 29, from 2 – 4 P.M. at Little’s Funeral Home, Littlestown. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Littlestown. Her pallbearers will be: Chet Ripple, Chester “Bubba” Ripple, Lin Smith, Len Bucher, Chris Bittle and John Roser. Memorials in Alma’s name may be sent to Redeemer’s U.C.C. – E.
