Biography:
Richard F. Warner Sr., 85, of Taneytown died early Wednesday, November 23, at his home. He was the husband of Shirley A. Filler Warner who died November 12, 2011. Born March 7, 1931 in Taneytown, he was the son of the late Edward F. and Gladys M. Cutsail Warner. Dick served in the Army with the 34th infantry during the Korean Conflict. Only 184 of 1981 officers and enlisted men who were committed to action in the Pusan Perimeter in 1950 survived. He received a Distinguished Unit Citation, Two Presidential Unit Citations, USA and two Presidential Unit Citations from the Republic of Korea, Two Bronze Star Medals, one for Valor, The Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal USA, Korean Service Medal ROK, United Nations Korean Service Medal, National Defense Medal and Army Good Conduct Medal plus others.
Dick was an electrician, retiring from Hull’s Electric of Gettysburg and was also a pastor with the Assemblies of God. Dick is survived by a son, Richard F. Warner Jr. of Taneytown and a daughter, Christine A. Koontz of Littlestown. Six grandchildren and Four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother William E. Warner. He was a member of Gates of Praise Worship Center, Littlestown and a Member of the Potomac District Council of Assemblies of God. He was a Littlestown VFW member. Dick had a passion for visiting the sick and preaching the word of God. He was a missionary in India where he served the Maranatha Church. Dick loved being with his family and friends.
Funeral service is Monday, November 28, at 11 AM at Little’s Funeral Home, Littlestown with his pastor, Rev. Samuel A. Garrett officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg with full military honors conducted by Littlestown Allied Veterans Council. There will be a viewing Sunday, November 27, from 3-5 at the funeral home. Contributions have been asked to go to his church at 5010 Baltimore Pike, Littlestown PA 17340.
