Biography:
Ethel M. Welty, 90, of Taneytown, died Thurs A.M., Nov 3, at her home. She was the wife of Earl R. Welty for 70 years. Born April 1, 1926 in Silver Run, Ethel was the daughter of the late Milton & Susan (Maus) Halter. She was a 1943 graduate of Westminster High School and was retired from Black & Decker since 1986.
Surviving in addition to her husband is her son, Larry R. Welty & wife, Linda, of Abbottstown; her daughter, Susan W. Lehigh & husband, Michael, of Taneytown; her 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and her 2 sisters: Naomi Menchy of Taneytown and Dottie Simpson of Westminster. Ethel was predeceased by her brother, Charles Halter and 6 sisters: Arlene Halter, Erma Lawrence, Helen Stonesifer, Cora Halter, Maud Bowen and Mary Myers. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Harney. Ethel loved being with her family. She also loved flowers, cooking, sewing and watching birds.
Funeral Service is Tues, Nov 8, at 12 noon at Little’s Funeral Home, Littlestown with The Rev. Peter Naschke officiating. There will be no Viewing; however the family will receive friends 11 –12 Tues at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Harney.
