Biography:

Vernon L. Schaffer, 90, of New Oxford, died early Thurs A.M., May 5, at The Brethren Home, New Oxford.  He was the widower of Ruth Schaffer.  Born April 5, 1926 in Germany Twp, Adams Cnty,  he was the son of the late Vernon L. & Isabelle (Wilson) Schaffer.  Vernon was a high school grad and served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII.  He had been employed with Lee Metals of Littlestown.
 
Surviving are his daughter, Linda D. Harrod of Altamonte Springs, FL; his 3 sons:  David L. Schaffer of Keymar, Glenn A. Schaffer of Hanover and Craig S. Schaffer of Taneytown; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.  Vernon was an avid model aircraft builder and collector.
 
Funeral Service is Tues, May 10, at 11 A.M. at Little’s Funeral Home, Littlestown with The Rev. Timothy J. Kielley officiating.  Viewing is 10-11 A.M. Tues at the funeral home.  Interment is in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover with military honors conducted by Hanover Allied Veterans Council.  Memorials in Vernon’s name may be sent to:  American Cancer Society – 924 N.
