Biography:
Joan O. Gravels, 87, of Silver Run, died Thursday, March 22, 2012, at home.
Born Jan 18, 1925, in Maple Cross, England, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Doris Pangborne Howard. She was the wife of Philip H. Gravels Jr., who died March 6, 2006.
She sailed on Queen Elizabeth's last passage to the United States.
She was a member of the Littlestown Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary. She enjoyed time with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are a daughter, Dawn D. Warehime, of Westminster; a son, Robin H. Gravels, of Conowingo; grandchildren James and Deirdre Warehime, Rachel Backert, and Adam Gravels; a great-granddaughter, Elliana Backert; and a brother, Clifford Howard, of Harfield, England.
She was predeceased by a sister, Daphne Ranger.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of service, 2 p.m. Monday at Little's Funeral Home, 34 Maple Ave., Littlestown, Pa., with her grandson, the Rev. Christopher Backert and her brother-in-law, the Rev. John Burroughs, officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Silver Run.
