Biography:

Lorraine Adelle Mellott passed away on March 9, 2012 after a brief illness. She was born in Everett, Bedford County, Pa. on August 30, 1926. Lorraine was the daughter of the late Benjamin Rush Mellott and Lottie Grace (Shaffer) Mellott. She moved to Littlestown with her parents in the 1940s after the family farm was sold on the Granite Station-Two Taverns Road. Lorraine worked for the Windsor Shoe Company for a number of years before retiring.  She resided in Littlestown until her death. Lorraine was an avid fan of Gene Autry and loved animals including her dog, Chaquita, her numerous cats, and wild birds.
Lorraine was predeceased by her brothers Raymond Coolidge, Matthew Quentin, Nelson Ellery, Benjamin Garfield, and her sister Mary Cleo (Mellott) Sentz. Lorraine had five nephews, one niece, six great nephews, seven great nieces, nine great great nephews, and four great great nieces.
Lorraine’s paternal seventh great grandfather Gideon (Marlet) Merlette, a French Huguenot, was one of the first settlers on Staten Island, New York in 1662. Her third great grandfather, John Mellott, served in the Revolutionary War.
 
Gifts in lieu of flowers may be made to the Littlestown Senior Center.
