Biography:

Sarah J. (Appler) Crawmer, 93, formerly of Littlestown, died Sun., Nov 23, at Utz Terrace, Hanover. She was the widow of Lewis L. Crawmer who died Nov 30, 2011.  Born Aug 17, 1921 in Gettysburg, she was the daughter of the late Evan & Effie (Ellenberger) Appler.  Sarah was a 1939 Littlestown High School graduate and attended Beauty Culture School in York and was a hairdresser for several years in Littlestown.  Sarah was later a babysitter keeping her grandchildren and other children.
 
Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn C. Yingling & husband, Barry, of Gettsyburg;  daughers-in-law:  Rebecca Crawmer of Littlestown and Linda Harn of Hanover; 7 Grandchildren:  Lori Worley, Bryan Crawmer, Todd Yingling, Karen Seipp, Stephanie Haifley, Keith & Kevin Crawmer; 10 great grandchildren:  Zachary Sterner, Joel, Becca & Jacob Crawmer, Sydney Yingling, Isabella, Felicia & Harris Haifley and Bryce & Garrett Crawmer and a great great granddaughter, Raelynn Hafer-Sterner.  Sarah was predeceased by two sons:  L. Douglas Crawmer and Jeffrey “Bryce” Crawmer; a brother, Donald Appler and two sisters:  Mildred Norris & Dorothy Herring.  Sarah was a lifelong member of Redeemer’s U.C.C., Littlestown.  She loved to bake and was known for her peanut butter fudge.  Sarah enjoyed her roses and playing bingo.  She also enjoyed her Williamsburg and Lancaster trips.
 
Funeral Service is Friday 11 A.M. at Little’s Funeral Home, Littlestown with her pastor, The Rev. Sterling L. Fritz officiating.  Viewing is 10-11 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.  Interment is in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Littlestown.  Pallbearers will be her grandsons:  Bryan Crawmer, Todd Yingling, Keith & Kevin Crawmer, Eric Seipp and Chad Haifley.  Memorials in Sarah’s name may be made to Redeemer’s U.C.C,  107 E. King St., Littlestown, PA  17340 or Gettysburg Lutheran Home, 1075 Old Harrisburg Rd., Gettysburg, PA  17325.  Online condolences may be shared onwww.littlesfh.com.

Sorry to see the passing of Sarah. A long life granted to a great lady. Blessings to all the family members in the Crawmer family.

My condolences to the Crawmer family. Sarah was a sweet and kind lady. My Joe always enjoyed walking down North Queen Street and stopping in to talk with Lewis and Sarah. They are probably enjoying some conversation right now.
