Biography:
Shirley May Dickinson, 78, formerly of Westminster, currently of Holidaysburg, died Monday, Oct 13, at the home of her daughter in Holidaysburg. She was the widow of Harvey B. Dickinson, Jr. who died Feb 2003. Born Feb 1, 1936 in Union Mills, MD, she was the daughter of the late William J. & Bertha (Meyers) Stewart. Shirley was a 1954 Westminster High School graduate and earned her Nurses Aide Certification from Community College of Baltimore. She was an Instructional Educational Aide for Carroll County area schools for over 30 years.
Surviving are 3 daughters: Patricia I. Jimenez & husband, Timothy, of Holidaysburg; Sonja M. Wyatt of Westminster and Jacqueline E. Strine of Hanover; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Shirley was predeceased by a son, Michael R. Dickinson; two sons-in-law, Earl Wyatt and Roy Strine; a brother,William J. R. Stewart and 2 sisters: Kathleen Jones and Virginia Abbott. Shirley was a member of Bixler’s United Methodist Church, Westminster where she served as lay leader, historian and Sunday School teachter. Shirley was also a Carroll County Historical Society member. She loved family “get-togethers” and enjoyed camping with her family.
Funeral Service is Friday, Oct 17, at 2 P.M. at her church with the Rev. Dr. Arthur D. Thomas, Jr. officiating. Viewing is Friday 1 – 2 P.M. at the church. Interment is in John Luther Miller Cemetery, Westminter. Pallbearers will be: Cory, Keith & Colby Strine, Jessica Zentz and Donovan & Timothy Jiminez.
