Biography:

Joseph H. Redding, 96, formerly of Littlestown, died Fri., Aug 15, at Hanover Hospital.  He was the widower of Irene (Beford) Redding who died in 1987 and the husband of Opal (Whittemore) Redding of Hanover Hall.  Born Oct 7, 1917 in Boswell, Somerset County, he was the son of the late Benjamin & Edith (Meckley) Redding.  Joe was a 1938 Delone High School graduate. He served in the army during WWII. He was employed with Windsor Shoe, Littlestown Boro and was retired from Hadco, Littlestown. 
 
Surviving in addition to his wife,Opal, are two daughters and two sons:  Diane Hanlon & husband, Paul, of Littlestown; Francis Redding & wife, Roberta, of Naches, WA; Cecilia Stanford of Annapolis, MD and Brian Redding & wife, Donna, of Aspers:  a stepson, Fred Cucco & wife, Cheryl, of Littlestown; two stepdaughters:  Elizabeth Thomas of Littlestown and Antoinette Cross of Stewartstown; many grandchildren, great and great, great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a stepson, Vincent Cucco, 3 sisters:  Anna O’Toole, Louise Coleman & Mary Rita Redding and 4 brothers:  Donald, Patrick, Francis & Thomas Redding.  Joe was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Littlestown where he was a volunteer for many fundraisers. He was a life member of: Alpha Fire Co., FOE #2226, VFW and Fish & Game, all of Littlestown.  He was formerly active in Littlestown Senior Center.
 
Mass of Christian Burial is Wed., Aug 20, at  11 A.M. at his church with The Rev. James M. Sterner Celebrant.  Viewing is Tues 6 – 8 P.M. at Little’s Funeral Home, Littlestown with the rosary recited at 8 P.M.  Interment is in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover.  Littlestown Allied Veterans Council will be conducting full military honors.  Memorials in Joe’s name may be made to American Diabetes Assoc., 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 101, Harrisburg, PA  17110 or the charity of one’s choice.  Online condolences may be shared on www.littlesfh.com.
