Biography:

L. Robert Snyder, 90, died Thurs, July 31, at York Hospital.  He was born May 27, 1924 in Littlestown and was the son of the late Luther D. & Mary Belle (Wambaugh) Snyder. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy (Taylor) Snyder who died June 27, 2012.  He is survived by his daughter, Nancy S. Chambers & husband, Jack, of Gettysburg; son Steven L. Snyder & wife, Alice, and daughter Diane M. Snyder & partner, Ernest Fredrikis, all of Littlestown.  Surviving also are four grandchildren:  David L. Snyder, Littlestown; Danielle Stansberry, Dunedin,FL; Heidi Sumser, Washington, DC and Jayson Fredrikis, Littlestown and 5 great grandchildren.  Bob graduated from Littlestown High School, attended Bucknell University and graduated from Western Maryland College.  He was the chairman of the board at Littlestown Foundry, Inc., where he was employed and part owner for over 67 years. Bob was an ACNB Director for many years. He was a member, past church council member and former director of the chancel choir for many years at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Littlestown.  He was a former Littlestown school board member.  Bob was a 60 year member of the Rotary Club of Littlestown.  He started and directed the Littlestown Men’s Chorus in the early 1950’s.  Bob was a charter member of the Littlestown Jaycee’s, a 50 year member of the Annapolis Yacht Club and enjoyed boating, winters in Florida, but especially the people and scenery in Nova Scotia.
 
Funeral Service is Mon., Aug 4, at 12 noon at his church with his pastor, The Rev. Alex Martini officiating.  There will be no viewing; however, the family will receive friends on Monday from 10 – 12 noon at church.  Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Littlestown.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 53 W. King St., Littlestown, PA  17340.  Online condolences on www.littlesfh.com.

Mr. Snyder was very tall. Once I met him on the street, he smiled. He was kind to me. My deepest sympathy to all of the family.
