Bobby G Nester

Bobby G Nester

May 29th, 2014

Biography: Bobby (Bob) Nester, 72, of Littlestown found eternal peace with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 29th, in York Hospital after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was lovingly surrounded by family members and friends. Born on September 15, 1941 in Hanover to the late Isabelle (Morelock) and Emanuel Nester, Bob was the loving husband of Nancy (Markle) Nester for nearly 56 years. He was a devoted father to Sherry Kermes (husband Fred) of Hanover, Kathy Dutterer (husband Scott) of Littlestown, and Jody Eckhart (husband Todd) of Red Lion. Bob was also the proud grandfather of Darrell Crabbs,  Jr. (wife Melissa), Amanda (Crabbs) Bushey (husband Jared), Jordan Dutterer, Ashlan Dutterer, Josiah Eckhart, and Alyssa Eckhart and six great grandchildren. Bobby is also survived by a brother, J. Steven Nester of Littlestown and two sisters, Lois Burton of Reisterstown, MD and Tammy Nash of Hampstead, MD. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward Nester and a sister, Peggy Hinkhaus.
In addition to being a devoted family man, Bob was an avid hunter and enjoyed many hunting trips to Potter County with friends and family. He also hunted in Wyoming with friends and in Maine and Canada with his grandson, Darrell. Bob was well-known for a good hunting story that may or may not have been exaggerated, and he was well-loved for being a jokester. His humor and fun-loving attitude will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved Bob.
Bob served as a police officer for  years in Littlestown before going to work for Utz Quality Foods, Inc. He was recently honored for his many years of service at Utz. Bob’s life was changed when he was shot in the head during an attempted robbery while working as a route salesman in Baltimore, MD in 1987. His life was spared and God’s work began through Bob and his testimony. He shared his love of the Lord with countless people in the years since the shooting. His faith in God was evident in his interactions with coworkers, family, and friends. He continued to work for Utz in the outlet store, as the company mailman, and as a tour guide in the tour gallery until as recently as 2013. In 1997 Bob battled and won a bout with cancer, allowing him to continue his work in sharing the Gospel and his testimony to God’s love and grace. A friend to everyone he met, Bob’s memory and legacy will live on through the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and all who knew and loved him.
Bob was a lifetime member of the Alpha Fire Company in Littlestown, the PA Game Commission, and Littlestown Fish & Game. He was a member of the Full Gospel Businessmen. He was an active and devoted member of the Littlestown Chapel.
Viewing is Tuesday, June 3, from 4-8 PM at Little’s Funeral Home, Littlestown  and 10-11 AM Wed. at First Church of God, 600 Fairview Dr., Hanover.  Funeral Service is Wed at 11 A.M. at First Church of God with Pastor Scott Morgan officiating.  Pallbearers will be Darrell Crabbs, Jr., Josiah Eckhart, Jordan Dutterer, Jared Bushey, Todd Eckhart, and Fred Kermes.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Littlestown Chapel, 1144 Bollinger Road, Littlestown, PA 17340 in Bob’s memory. Interment is at Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover.  Online condolences on www.littlesfh.com.

Bob was a great cousin and was a friend to all. He fought his best to the very end. I admire his love of God and dedication to his religion. His family was blessed to share his love for 72 years. Peace for his ailing body at last! I will keep his family in my prayers and hope they can cope with his loss. Grief is long lasting but necessary for healing. He will live on in our hearts and the memories of his extroidinary humor are a blessing. Condolances for all of the Nester family!

Nancy, Sherry, Jody, Kathy and family. I am so sorry for your loss. Bobby was an amazing person. It was very obvious the Lord was using him on this earth. He endured a great deal and still stood on God\'s principals. May you find peace in God\'s word and your memories. Praise the Lord you will be reunited one day!!

Nancy and family, words can not express the loss you are feeling now. I met Bob at age 14 and have never since seen him without a smile on his face and kind words for everyone he met. The world is a better place because of Bob and his belief in God, love of family and concern for others. We are all lucky to have known him. The pain is gone and he's at peace.

Crazy Uncle Bob! You always made us laugh! I still remember Christmases with you wearing silly umbrellas on your head and dressing up. So many good times! We will really miss you. Aunt Nancy, Sherry, Jody, Kathy and family - I am so very sorry for your loss and sending prayers your way.
My comfort is that Uncle Bob is now with his loved ones in heaven - and making them laugh.

Nancy and family, I am so saddened to hear of Bobby's passing. I knew he was having some health issues but didn't know how ill he was. I have good memories of him from years past when we went to school together. May you receive comfort during this time of grief and in the future years as you remember the years you all spent together.

Our family was with Bob as he left this world and entered Heaven. We sang, "Amazing Grace" for Bob. We all told stories and things we remembered about Bob's life. Bob was at peace and we were all comforting one another. My brother, Bob truly left this world a better place for all who knew him. May God comfort Nancy and all the family as this is a very tough time for each of us. Bob is in Heaven now with Mom & Dad, sister Peggy and many others who have gone before him. Bob, you will never be forgotten! Love you & Miss you!

Truly he was a man of God. Bobby Nester was man who loved Jesus probably more than any other person I have ever met.
I don't say this lightly, but with conviction. I lived for years in Europe and Asia and traveled all over the world. When he would speak of Jesus he would start crying. He was an Inspiration to say the least. I can say he was a blessing in my life and an example of what all Christians should strive for to Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and,'Love your neighbor as yourself' that is what Bob lived. Nancy we are sorry for your loss. May God bless you and your family and comfort you in your grief. Knowing Bobby, he is probably sharing a story or telling a joke with the saints in Heaven.
