Biography: L. Grant Stavely, Sr., 87, of Littlestown, died early Fri. A.M., May 16, at
his home. He was the husband of Agnes M. (Kensinger) Stavely for 65 years.
Born April 16, 1927 in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Harry W. &
Elizabeth (Ulrich) Stavely. Grant was a Hyattsville, MD High School
graduate and served in the Marine Corps during WWII. He was retired after
38 years of service from the U.S. Postal Service of Hyattsville.
Surviving in addition to his wife are 13 children: Catherine Stavely of
Annapolis, MD; Louis G. Stavely, Jr. & Betty of Ijamsville, MD; Susan S.
Bannigan of Annapolis; Geraldine Daniels & Bob of Ormond Beach, FL; Brian
Stavely & Kim of Gettysburg; Gregory Stavely & Paddi of Burtonsville, MD;
Agnes Burke & Eddie of Littleton, NC; Bernadette S. Rentfro & Ed of Potomac,
MD; Joseph Stavely & Shelley of Boyds, MD; Steven Stavely & Sue of
Sunderland, MD; David Stavely & Rhonda of Huntingtown, MD; Michael Stavely &
Anne of Chesapeake Beach, MD and Ellen S. Karavangelos & Lance of Olney, MD;
numerous grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; brother, Bob Stavely &
Dorothy of Hyattsville and sister, Theresa Dungan of Warsaw, VA. Grant was
predeceased by a grandson, Kevin Stavely; 3 brothers: Jack, Harry & Bernie
Stavely and sister, Charlotte Houston.
Grant was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, VFW and American Legion,
all of Littlestown and Bonneauville CWV. He also enjoyed hunting and
fishing.
Mass of Christian Burial is Tues., May 20, at 10 A.M. at his church with The
Rev. James M. Sterner Celebrant. Viewing is Monday 6 - 8 P.M. at the
funeral home with the rosary recited by 8 P.M. Interment is in the parish
cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Grant's 7 sons. Full military
honors will be conducted by Littlestown Allied Veterans Council at the
cemetery. Memorials in Grant's name may be sent to Asera Care Hospice, 44
Bowman Rd., York, PA 17408 or the charity of one's choice. Online

Our parents are slowly starting to leave us, now ... but their impact, legacy and some fine memories remain.
