Biography:

Maurice E. Bream, 94, formerly of Littlestown died Monday Oct. 28 at the Lutheran Retirement Village at Utz Terrace. He was the husband of Rose Z. Hobbs Bream of Fairfield. He was predeceased by his first wife Viola C Bream in 1992.  Born March 21, 1919 in New Chester, he was the son of the late Harry S. and Kathryn M. Taughinbaugh Bream. Maurice was a 1938 graduate of Gettysburg High School and a 1942 graduate of Shippensburg State University. He served in the Army during WWII in Newfoundland and the Phillipines. He is survived by a daughter Mildred West of Australia,  sons Ronald Bream of Lees Summitt Missouri, Wayne Bream of Elizabethtown and Gary Bream of Cary, N.C. Stepsons, H.David Herring of Littlestown and Dennis Herring of Fairfield. Stepdaughters Beverly Hare of New Oxford and Deborah Herring of Fairfield. 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, 5 step grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren. A sister Kathryn Weikert of New Oxford. He was predeceased by a sister Myrna Schwartz and a brother Harold Bream. Maurice was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Littlestown where he taught Sunday School for over 40 years. Maurice taught Biology at Littlestown High School retiring in 1979. He was a member of the Hanover Masonic Lodge 348, Life Member of the Littlestown American Legion and V.F.W. Maurice coached football for LHS’s first team in 1947 and coached basketball for LHS. He loved golfing, hunting, fishing, photography and being with his family. Funeral Services will be Friday Nov. 1 at 11 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with his pastor, the Rev. Alex Martini officiating. There will be a viewing Thursday from 6-8 at Little’s Funeral Home and from 10-11 AM at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg. Contributions have been asked to go to St. Paul;s Lutheran Church, 53 West King St, Littlestown PA 17340. Military Honors will be provided by the Littlestown Allied Veterans Council. Rest in Peace Mr. Bream!
Mr. Bream was my science teacher in 7th grade (1975). Always fond memories of Mr. Bream!

Maurice was a special friend of mine in at Utz Terrace - I looked forward to visiting with him each week. He was such a wonderful man, filled with smiles and kind words even in his last weeks. My deepest condolences to his family.

Our deepest sympathy to Rose and Kathryn and their families. Maurice was a classmate of my mother, Jean McCrorie, and a very caring person. We are very sorry to hear of his passing.
