Biography:
Arlene C. Blocher, 97, formerly of Littlestown, died Wed. A.M., Oct. 2, at Transitions Healthcare Gettysburg. She was the widow of Fred F. Blocher who died Oct 23, 1981. Born Nov 17, 1915 in Littlestown, she was the daughter of the late Harry L. & Esther May (Wolfe) Trostle. Arlene was a 1934 Littlestown High School graduate and was retired in 1975 from Littlestown Hardware & Foundry as a traffic manager after 25 years of service.
Surviving are a son, Fred A. Blocher & wife, Bonnie, of Gardners; Son-in-Law, Karl Brown of Gilbert, AZ; 4 granddaughters; a great granddaughter and 4 great grandsons. Arlene was predeceased by a daughter, Linda L. Brown and a brother, Fred Trostle.
Arlene was a life member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Alpha Fire Co. Aux., both of Littlestown; Eastern Star and Amarath of Hanover and Samaria Shrine of Gettysburg and General Federation of Women’s Club, all 50 yr. memberships; Littlestown Charter VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries; Littlestown Senior Citizens and a volunteer for Gettysburg Hospital’s Thrift Shop.
Memorial Service is Tues., Oct 8, at 11 A.M. at Little’s Funeral Home, Littlestown with The Rev. Alex Martini officiating. Inurnment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Littlestown. Following services, everyone is invited to a reception at St. Paul’s Social Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Arlene’s name may be sent to her church @ 53 W.King St., Littlestown, PA 17340. “THANK YOU” to Transitions Healthcare Nurses & staff for a wonderful job of taking care of Arlene.
