Biography:

Mattie Bell Study, 87, of Thurmont, died Wed., Apr 10,  at her daughter’s home, Tammy Biggus, of Thurmont.  She was the widow of Lloyd W. Study who died May 14, 1998.  Born Oct 15, 1925 in Meadow View, VA, she was the daughter of the late Bradley Pruner Harrison & Blanche (Barlow) McVey.  Mattie was a farmer; had been a hostess at Bob Evans, Frederick and also at Hoke’s Furniture Co., Thurmont.  She loved being with family, gardening, traveling, cooking and quilting.
 
Surviving are four sons:  Kenneth Myers & wife, Patricia, of Dover, PA,  William Study of Thurmont, Melvin Study & wife, Judy of Waynesboro, PA,  Robert Study of Thurmont; three daughters:  Debbia Tressler & husband, Thomas of Gardners, PA, Diana Sharkey & husband, Granger of Creagerstown, Tammy Biggus & husband, Jeffrey of Thurmont; 13 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; two brothers:  Volney McVey of Meadow View; Garland McVey of Waynesboro, VA; 4 sisters:  Myrtle Allison of TN, Audrey Seymore of Chilhowie, VA, Frances Parris of Lebanon, VA; Louise Debusy of Meadow View; a sister-in-law, Nellie McVey and many nieces and nephews.  Mattie was predeceased by her grandson, Joseph L. Myers; 6 brothers:  John, Bradley, William, Harry, Meshack and Rev. Joseph McVey and a sister, Mary Seymore.
 
Funeral Service is Monday, Apr 15, at 11 A.M. at Little’s Funeral Home, Littlestown with her nephew, The Rev. Gene R. Allison officiating. Viewing is Sunday 6 – 8 P.M. at the funeral home.  Interment is in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Littlestown.  Pallbearers will be:  Jeffrey Biggus, Jr., Glenn Sharkey, James, Brian, John, Mike and Shane Study and Roland McVey. Unable to be there. Prayers go your way. We\'ll cherish the memories of all the wonderful times on the farm when we were young. She was indeed a wonderful person. Thoughts go your way often.
