Biography: Carroll T Mays (84) of Hanover, Pa went into the arms of Jesus so peacefully at his home on Friday, Jan. 18th, after a battling heart disease for many years. He was surrounded by his lovely wife, 2 children, and brother-in-law; Donald Warner.

He was born to the late Daniel T. Mays and Carrie R. (Baublitz) Mays in Baltimore County on March 7th 1928, and grew up in Manchester, Md. After attending school in Carroll County, he worked various jobs before enlisting in the Army. Carroll was stationed on the Island of Saipan during WWII and awarded the Victory Metal for his service. After the War, he went on to The Baltimore School of Electronics on the G.I. Bill to become a Certified Electrician and T.V. Technician.

On August 25th 1950, he married the “love of his life,” Mildred (Warner) of Silver Run, Md.; setting up housekeeping in Hanover, Pa for the next 62 years. Carroll worked at the Hanover Wire Cloth, before finding employment in the Electronics Department of Montgomery Ward, and in 1970 he opened his own business; “Mays’ Electronics,” until 1994 when he retired.

He was a member of the Hanover VFW; McSherrystown Home Association; Am Vets; McSherrystown Loyal Order of Moose, and the Hanover Republican Club. However; he was most proud of his work with the Hanover Borough Council – being a Councilman of the 5thWard from 1984 to 1995.

He is survived by his beloved wife, “Millie;” daughter, Dianna Orndorff-Boehm and husband Bruce; Son, Thomas D Mays. Two grandchildren; Joshua Redding and wife, Emily of Harrisonburg, Va.; Taylor (Redding) Wilson and husband Matthew of Williamsport, Md. Seven adored great-grandchildren; Elijah, Judah, Micah, and Noah Wilson; Miriam, Silas, and Titus Redding. He is also survived by one dear sister, Margeret (Mays) Duncan of Hanover, Pa. Two much-loved brother-in-laws and one sister-in-law; Donald Warner of Hampstead, Md - Glenn Warner of Marysville, CA and Doris (Warner) Zumbrum of Hanover, Pa. Plus, numerous treasured nephews and nieces.

Services will be held at Little’s Funeral Home, Littlestown, Pa on Wed. January 23rd – viewing from 10-11 am – memorial service to follow 11 – 12 noon, with burial at Rest Haven.

Pallbearers are: Luke Haring, grandson of the late Evelyn (Warner) Wantz; Adam Miller, grandson of Doris (Warner) Zumbrum; Jerry Warner (standing in for Glenn Warner); Chris Hughes, grandson of the late Melvin Mays; Danny Baust, son of the late Ethel (Mays) Baust; ‘Butch’ Mays, son of the late Leroy Mays; Steve Mays, son of late Paul Mays; David Dulaney, son of the late Doris (Mays) Nace.

Horary Pallbearers: Don Warner; Randy Warner, son of the late Nevin Warner; Bobbie Calp (standing in for Margeret (Mays) Duncan

The family is requesting in lieu of flowers that donations to honor Carroll Mays’ life be made to The VNA of Hanover & Spring Grove, 440 N. Madison Street, Hanover, Pa 17331 (Attn. ‘Hospice’).

Carroll was my mother's cousin. I loved seeing and talking with him at the family reunions. He and his wife Millie are great people. God Bless. Betsy
