Biography:

George R. Sanders Jr., 78 of Emmitsburg Md. died Friday August 2, 2024 at UPMC York Hospital. He was the husband of Linda J. Windisch Sanders of Emmitsburg for 37 yrs. Born July 11, 1946 in Emmitsburg MD., he was the son of the late George R. Sanders Sr. and Mary Virginia Lingg Sanders.

George served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War earning a Vietnam service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars. He was a member of the Thurmont American Legion. He retired from Ft. Detrick with the waste water treatment plant. George loved his feathered friends, racing pigeons, raising chickens and watching the wild birds and gardening. He would like to  thank his special  friend Steve Kelly and brother in law Bob Windisch for all their help.

In addition to his wife Linda, he is survived by a sister Elma Topper (James) of Owensboro, KY., brother in-law Dick Wivell, nieces Ranae Goff and family, Lisa Millay and family and nephews Rick and Scott Wivell and families. George was predeceased by a sister Mary Ann (Sissie) Wivell, nephew Brian Topper, great nephew Dakota Wivell and great niece Lacie Wivell.
