Biography:
On Sunday, Nov 18, 2012, Our Lord and Savior welcomed His child, Jean Emma Shoemaker Wolff home into His Kingdom from Gettysburg Hospital. She is His child but she was our Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great Great Grandmother. We, her family, love her and cherish many wonderful memories and stories. She leaves a lasting legacy of many generations and will be remembered and celebrated with great Joy. Born April 23, 1923 in Adams County, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Sarah (Group) Thomas. She was the wife of Austin C. Shoemaker who died Aug 3, 1959 and the late Paul Wolff. Previous to her final employment with Office of the Aging, she had been a longtime employee of Herff Jones and was a homemaker. She attended Hunterstown Church of God and was an active member of the Red Hat Society.
Jean was the beloved mother of 12 children: Esther Shoemaker of Gettysburg; Wayne Shoemaker & his wife, Jayne, of Littlestown; Austin Shoemaker and Delores Shuff, both of Hanover; Shirley Brown & husband, George of Gettysburg; Bill Shoemaker & wife, Jody of Spring Grove; Lynn Lawrence & husband, Joe of McSherrystown; Paul Shoemaker of South Mountain; Mary Ellen Settle of Gettysburg; Debra Kelley & husband, Tim of Littlestown and Dale Shoemaker & wife, Cheri of Gettysburg; an unofficially adopted daughter, Rose Waxler of Gettysburg; longtime special friends, Roxanne and Michael Howe; 24 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Dolores Shupe of Gettysburg and Marie Cangelosi of Spring Grove; a brother, Edgar Thomas of Hanover and numerous nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by son, Walter D. Shoemaker; sister, Geraldine Black and brother, Franklin Thomas, Sr.
Funeral Service is Wednesday, Nov 21, at 11 A.M. at Bethel Assembly of God, Littlestown with The Rev. Garry Sheaffer officiating. Viewings are Tues 6 - 8 P.M. at Little's Funeral Home, Littlestown and Wed 10 -11 A.M. at the church. Interment is in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Littlestown. I am so sorry for your loss. Jean was a wonderful person. I had the joy of getting to know her a few years back during her stay @ Wonder\'s. She was sweet, kind and caring. Always had a smile on her face. She always brightened my day. She will be missed by many. I will keep the family in my thoughts and prayers.
