Biography:

Hallie P. Carpenter, 100, of New Oxford, died Tuesday, Nov 23, at The Brethren Home, New Oxford.  She was the widow of John N. Carpenter.  Born January 19, 1921 in Frederick County, Hallie was the daughter of the late Charles E. & Florence E. (Rippeon) Garber.  She was employed with Westminster Coats retiring in 1959.

Surviving are her daughter, Janet Krom, of Hanover;  her grandchildren, Lisa Jones & Kevin of Littlestown; Darryl Krom & Laurie of Hanover; and her great grandchildren, Stephanie and Nicholas Jones and Nicholas Beard.  Hallie was predeceased by her great grandson, Jacob Jones and her siblings, Ada Hahn, Cephas, Ralph, Earl and Merton Garber, Mary Stewart, Mabel Ruppert and Lurena Condon.  She was a member of Westminster Methodist Church and later St. John's Lutheran Church, Littlestown and the Westminster Elks.  Hallie and her husband enjoyed their Florida home.  She enjoyed playing golf, bowling, gardening, pulling weeds, gospel songs, especially The Gaithers, going to the beach, shopping at the York Galleria Mall, swinging in the backyard together, Easter egg hunts in the backyard and making pies from her own fruit.  She also loved candy, sweets and caramel popcorn. Hallie raised a chicken and earned a penny from her brother, so began her collecting of pennies and dimes.  She didn't have any pets, but also enjoyed visiting with her neighbor's dogs.

Funeral Service is Monday, Nov 29, at 11 A.M. at Little's Funeral Home, Littlestown with Pastor Dawn Weller of Pipe Creek Church of the Brethren, Union Bridge, officiating.  Viewing is one hour prior to service time Monday.  Interment is in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg.  Memorials in Hallie's name may be sent to The Brethren Home, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA  17350 or Alzheimer's Association, 2595 Interstate Dr., Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.  Online condolences may be shared on www.littlesfh.com
